This place was recommended by someone when I told them I was looking for a "mom and pop" place with great food. This place is GREAT!!! We have been there no less than 15 times and EVERY bite of food is great - always consistent no matter the time of day! Service is very good as well. We have had almost everything on the menu and have enjoyed everything we have ordered. Prices are very fair and portions are great. I highly recommend Las Colinas!!!!

I go here once a week now that I live here. They have great food, and even better Cuban sandwiches. Also $3 coronas that always come with plenty of limes. The staff is also very nice and pleasant to talk to. The place isn't fancy looking but the great prices and awesome food make up for it.

Love this place. Humble setting, great food. The owner is always on site and is friendly to everyone. He brought me a sample of the oxtail soup one time and my friend and I were instantly hooked! They only make it Wednesdays so it is like a midweek special treat. One tip tho... Stain lifter. It's a great meal, but eating it the right way requires no shame and use of ur fingers. Coffee is outstanding. Flan is home made.

Absolutely loved this place! The owner was super attentive and beyond friendly. Great service and great food. Colinas breakfast special is a must. The cafe con leche is to die for!! Stuffed plantains (with beef) very yummy. Extremely reasonable prices. Definitely visit if you're looking for a delicious Cuban experience!

I'm an import to the Ft. lauderdale area from Miami so I know real Cuban food.. It's nice to have Las Colinas here! I don't have to drive all the way Miami just to have a taste of home! Great service & prices!

Fantastic sandwiches, good cafe con leche and great Oxtail on Thursdays. One of the best two cuban places outside of Miami.

I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. Also a good place to stop for a coffee and pastry. So so so good. Plentiful servings and really inexpensive. Friendly service but this ain't Manhattan so don't expect it to be fast. Personally I like enjoying my meal without someone hovering over me, trying to clear my plates. Don't eat here if you are on a diet.

This is a local place off the beaten path of all the tourist.. I love the Cuban sandwich here and the and the papa releno forgive the misspelled Spanish. I been here a dozen times and never been disappointed, If you like things spicy don't forget to ask for their home made hot sauce. Prices are pretty good here too.

I was visiting the Fort Lauderdale area after a cruise and had a taste for Cuban, after reading many reviews we decided on Las Colinas, I was not disappointed and the reviews are on point. I ordered the creole shrimp with moros and tostones, my friend order a rope veija sandwich and maduros. We shared an order of avocado salad, everything was FANTASTIC! We were stuffed and in foodie heaven, the cost wasn't outrageous and I am already craving more Las Colinas! If you want a good meal for a good price..this is the place! #nomastic

Absolutely great!! I spent 12 years in Key West fl and this place is just as I remember the quality of the Con Leche down there - it's the real deal - enjoy all!! Can't wait to go back for some traditional favorites to eat!!!

  • Bruce J.

I have been here several times, food is very good, masas de puerco or pork chunks happen to be my favorite item, but tried the soup this time, WOW, it was the best chicken soup I think I have ever had...staff always very friendly....great place, will be back.

While this place and the food is amazing, I only wish they had some vegetarian or vegan options. It would be a another way for the restaurant to get more revenue.

Small mom and pop type of restaurant. The food here is fabulous!!! I had the Lechon Asado with black beans and rice and fried yucca...so much flavor! Definitely coming back.

We came here after heading to another local Cuban place that is listed higher on Yelp which had run out of a number of menu items including Cuban sandwiches. We thought the Cuban sandwiches were great at Las Colinas. The ffried yuca was also delicious although a bit greasier than I have had elsewhere. Would definitely go back here again if I'm ever in the area.

Put a grain of salt in this review. Ethnically I am a Swede attempting to make a culinary trip through Cuban cuisine. Trust me on this, the distance between Swedish meatballs with ligonberry and a Cuban pressed sandwich, buljol, ajiaco, duchanoo, or moro (did I get any of those right?) is considerable and my Irish dinning companion was even more clueless. The other difficult part of this culinary travel is attempting it in Broward as opposed to Miami/ Dade. However, I think through trial and error I found a rather ideal gem of a place, Las Colinas. Every dish I have had here has been a delightful, pleasing culinary treat. The service has been attentive and friendly with everyone being most helpful with my feeble attempts at speaking and ordering in Spanish. It's not easy for me. If you think so, I'd like to see you attempt Swedish if absent any background or training in it. Though my yardstick of measurement is limited, I've had the best tasting pressed Cuban sandwiches here over any other place that I've tried and I've tried most of them in Broward. They're chucked full of meats, cheese and sold at an incredibly reasonably price of around $6.00. The drinks, speaking only of beer or wine, are also reasonably priced although of a variety and type that may make a French sommelier cringe. Las Colinas offers a huge, seemingly ever changing dinner menu stemming from shrimp cerviche (I didn't know that was Cuban or that they had a special Cuban variety of it) to specialized Cuban calamari. Everything is clean, neat and orderly with a rather pleasant laid back, easy going café type of atmosphere. The outside, when approaching the entrance is somewhat intimidating as well as misleading. Because of the mirrored windows, a first timer has no idea what he or she might be walking into. It almost gives the appearance of a closed up has been dive bar from the outside; however it is anything but that. One of the most surprising and refreshing things to observe is that the interior is completely devoid of that usual strip mall chic décor for which Southern Florida is so well known. The ceiling appears to be real plaster with crown molding and actually clean, which is an unusual unexpected visionary treat to what I generally encounter. So, I may not know what I'm talking about but I am trying. Hence any correction or additions are welcomed.

Good service. Our waiter was very attentive. We had the pork sandwich, Cuban especial sandwich and shredded beef sandwich. All three were delicious but Cuban especial wins the medal. Parking kinda sucks but you can get a space if you go in circles a couple times. People come and go regularly.

The Cuban sandwich was great very delicious. I would not eat in during summers there because there's no AC it was very hot. Good prices. Will definitely go back for a Cuban sandwich and a Cuban coffee

My favorite Cuban restaurant in Broward County!! I've been coming here for a few years now and always leave satisfied. I usually get the fried pork chunks with white rice and black beans with a side of tostones. The portions are huge and the food always fresh and tasty. Sometimes the servers are not as attentive as they should be, but that depends who is working on what night. All in all, I will keep coming back and would recommend this place to anyone for it's great food and casual dining atmosphere.

  • Jake H.

Good food for an ok price but really really poor service both times I've been there. No check back after food was delivered, no drink refill and a major effort to get check. Not a place I'll return to or recommend.

  • Adam F.

This is a little family owned Cuban place. Reminds me a lot of the Cuban restaurants in Miami. The food has almost always been great. My only compliant is that they can be a little inconsistent with the portions. Sometimes the Cuban sandwich is piled high and at other times it has had the one slice of ham cheese and pork. When I get an entree I almost always get the bistec empanizado, I love it!! The Vaca Frita is good as well!

    (4)
  • Grace C.

Empanadas and croquetas were perfect apps. Shredded beef was yummy and mr. owner was so nice and accommodating. Their cafe was oh so delicioso! Would love to have some here. Go there for awesome Cuban. You will not regret it!

I eat at this local Cuban diner every visit to Fort Lauderdale. It is not a very fancy place, but the cafe con leche and lechon asada are delicious. The Cuban sandwich is lackluster though. Try one of the pork dishes and maduros (sweet plaintains) instead.

Great Cuban. Authentic. Even free wifi. The Cuban sandwich and home made hot sauce and chimichurri sauce was amazing. Don't forget to try the lentil soup.

Went searching for Cuban food while on an extended south Florida vacation. Yelp'd this place and was given the thumbs up by friends at a resort. The location is clearly family run. Simple chairs, simple tables, easy layout. Clean. You know the type. Clearly was not started with a lot of money, just the ability to make good food. I ordered empanadas and croquettas for starters. Prettry decent. No complaints at least. Then the plates stared arriving. Plate*S*. I had ropa viejo, my companion the fried fish. At this point, our small table had five plates on it and two cups. I ordered a Cuban coffee. Another plate. It was more food than we knew what to do with. Both of us admitted to moving some of it around the table just so we didn't insult the restaurant without eating everything. The food was definitely well made Cuban comfort food. The taste was not exceptional, but good. Not overburdened with spices or fancy fixin's... The beef spoke for itself, as did the beans and plantains. Everything was as it should be. Great for a simple and huge comfort lunch. And the best part? We had two appetizers, a Cuban coffee (actually quite good), and two full entrees. Total bill? $25. If you are looking for fancy food or exotic tastes, this is not the place for you. But if you want a simple, filling, and decent lunch... head here. I would go back, but not necessarily put it on the list for 'must eat every time in Ft. Lauderdale.'

I've given this place several chances on different days of the week and different times of day. Always mediocre at best. Today for lunch I ordered the simplest of dishes. Even this gringo could make a better picadillo criollo. It was browned ground beef with a few tiny pieces of tomato served blandly in its own grease. The sweet plantains were dark brown, dry, hard and anything but sweet. A few small pieces of bread were very VERY dry. I guess I was meant to dip the bread in the grease from the meat. The ham croquettes were good and the white rice adequate. The can of diet Pepsi was perfect (hence the second star). Service is rarely warm and friendly as in other Cuban restaurants. Go back to the search results and go to another restaurant.

Simple, classic Cuban cafe--just like Calle Ocho (Little Havana), only closer and safer! Nothing fancy, but open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with good food and ample servings. We were suprised at how good the ceviche was, and the chicken dishes are big enough to feed a lumberjack!

Best cuban food, prices are right and they are open late. Try the Grilled Chicken Steak.. Yumm!

Great price and great food. I recently discovered this place and I can't get enough. I have yet to have anything that is mediocre here. Everything has been simply amazing

Great portions, friendly service, and an authentic feel you usually only find in Miami made Las Colinas a great find on a Saturday afternoon. Our Cafe con Leches were excelente, and a huge menu offering everything from traditional egg breakfasts to sandwiches to entrees fit for a Cuban king make Las Colinas a new favorite place when i'm craving this cuisine. I enjoyed a tamale while my dining partner opted from pork chunks served with plantains, rice, and salad. All of our food was delicious, and you can't beat these prices. I would definitely recommend and return to this divey and delisioso dining spot!

I have to go to Ft. Lauderdale twice a month and it's comforting to see that someone decided to open up a cuban place for the working people in these areas. Cause in Ft laud Cuban Restaurants owners think that since the crossed the Border line of Hollywood Blvd prices have to skyrocket... I have been here many times over the years, but I always forget to review it. I seem to always go and sit in the same section and i get the same waitress that remembers me. She is a nice lady that wants you to have a great experience. I ordered the Vaca frita and rice and black beans with off course tostones. It was very good, my co workers order the special of the day which consisted of carne guisada rice and maduros. They both said it was very good and the price also. The coffee is not as good as Miami but it had good taste. I will always come back Their cuban and Midnite sandwiches are awesome too.

  • Kiet L.

Food here is pretty good. We had the cuban sandwich, ropa vieja (shredded beef) with yellow rice, beans and sweet plantains. Cuban sandwich was hooked up with lots and lots of cheese. The meat to bread ratio was pretty solid as well. The shredded beef was a bit salty for my tastes but satisfying. Their cafe con leche was really good. They give you like 2 shots of espresso and a cup of warm steamed, creamy milk. You mix the concoction yourself. It's dark, strong and good. It's a must try.

Authentic Cuban food! The service was extraordinary. Owner gave us to try two entrees for free just because he was nice. Everything was super tasty and prices were reasonable. I'd come back to this place again.

We come here occasionally since it is by our house. The food is consistently good. Nothing spectacular, but you'll leave satisfied. If you want quick, cheap and no frills Cuban food than this is a sure bet.

Horrible!!!! Just waited 45 minutes for coffee and then finally got our overcooked breakfast...horrible service. All around us were people with full dirty tables waiting for service...if you don't have enough servers maybe you should stay closed

Cafe con leche! Just the way I love my coffee! You win my "I need a pick me up" on those hard Monday mornings! Why can't there be "cafe con leche" joints instead of Starbucks and Dunkin? The couple who took us here said, "This coffee has to be good because this is where the cops go." I agree that cops know good coffee. This was our last meal in Ft. Lauderdale. We were treated to Cuban corner before being dropped off at the airport. We had breakfast here and it's so cheap, starting at 3.95. All of us got the delish cafe con leche and cuban toast. You get two big pieces of warm, crisp buttered bread. Our entrees of eggs, potatoes, and meat came and they were really hearty. I could not finish my breakfast because the cuban toast fulls you up fast. Also, tried the cuban sandwich, what?! I can't leave with out trying a cuban sandwich! That was delish well. What a memorable breakfast in Las Colinas!

This placed used to be good years ago. Prices are still low and the food is good. Breakfast is cheap, but the service has gotten sooooo bad. We went in today and sat down at around 8:30 am. One other table was there and we waited for 10 minutes, nobody greeted us. Another 2 people came in and sat down and got served right away. She even went and checked on the other table and didn't even acknowledge us. After 15 minutes we walked out. I guess you need to be a regular and go here all the time to be served. And you can't appear to be gringo. They really need to know their neighborhood.

This place serves a delicious, authentic, and inexpensive cuban breakfast. The location could be better, but do not judge this book by it's cover. This is probably one of the best Cuban breakfast places I have ever been to! If you are in the area I definitely recommend stopping in.

  • Stacy M.

Always a great meal! When me and my man are in for a quick weekend breakfast, which always includes tostones, 2 eggs, smashed seasoned potatoes, and a cafe con leche, the bill is never more than what you would pay for one person to eat at any local diner. Or if you and some friends come in for lunch and decide to taste the menu, the food is always flavorful and consistent and the service is pleasant for a decent price. What more could you want from your local cuban restaurant? In a rush? Stop by the coffee window and pick up a cortadito for that extra pep in your step. Las Colinas is one of the neighborhood gems all my guests get the pleasure of having when coming to Ft. Lauderdale.

This place should be featured on the show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives". This is some of the best tasting, well made, delicious, fresh (did i mention yummy) Cuban food I have ever had. (Even better than Victor's in NYC). The prices are average, the only thing that sucks at all is the parking, and since you cant eat parking lot, that does not matter. I resisted going here at first because of the way it looks on the outside, but it was the only place open in the area after work, so I gave it a shot and was really surprised and delighted. NOT WHAT I EXPECTED AT ALL.

  • Laurie L.

Great cuban coffee and best eggs! Don't let the outside deter you from going in! Great authentic Cuban food. Super nice staff! Clean and organized.

  • Deven B.

It's easy to pass by this Cuban Gem, even if you do see it. The building leaves much to the imagination - perhaps a little too much. I know of a couple Cuban natives who eat here regularly. The food is great, apparently authentic Cuban from what I've been told. Their cafe con leches is all the reason I need to come inside. I can't resist their Cuban sandwich either; virtually the only thing I order on the menu. Perfect place for the day after a long night or to get some good Cuban fair without driving to Miami.

  • Geo R.

I was born in Cuba and was raised in Miami and have eaten Cuban all my life. I moved to Broward six years ago and have tried all the "Cuban" places (Las Vegas, Laura's). They are all contenders, but this place is the real deal. For a few moments while I awaited my excellently prepared medianoche, I forgot I was in Broward.

I wanted to like this place I really did, but alas it did not deliver. I did enjoy my sangria so thats a plus. The yellow rice was good as well as the black beans and plantains. Don't come her looking for service. The waitress obviously had someone spit in her bean curds for the lack of a better expression. She was very uninvolved and if she cared to crack a smile her face would probably fall apart. So I can't recommend this place. The steak sandwich was bland with a horrible cut of flavorless chewy meat. ropa vieja was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Maybe their breakfast is better too bad I have no interest in finding out.

This place was amazing!!! Loved it so much we returned for a second time with the family on our Pompano Beach vacay. Juan is so welcoming and his food is the bees knees! We tried the breakfast, The ox tail for lunch, cafe con leche, the flan, his soup and spent very little money. Definitely check this place out, you'll get hooked ;)

Finally! An authentic Cuban restaurant not in Hialeah/Miami. I have been looking for a place like this for a while and am so happy to find it right in Wilton Manors. If you want authentic Cuban dishes in a very "Hialeah Cafeteria" atmosphere, this is the place to go. It may look like a run down hole in the wall, but it's actually very clean. Even the prices are comparable to Hialeah. For $3.95 you get 2 eggs (which look like 4 eggs on your plate), a meat, potatoes in a yummy sauce, cuban toast & butter and cafe con leche (free refills). It's unbeatable for a Cuban breakfast. The meals are also served in large portions, as are the sides (you get two with a meal and most meals are between $8-$10). If you're coming here, you better put on your eatin' dress, hike up your sleeves & dig in. Despite the look, quantity & the prices, quality is not spared. The food is delicious, tastes like mom's Cuban cooking. Plus, they have that charming little cafeteria window on the outside to get your shot of cuban coffee and possibly a croquette or empanada on the go! You'll find me here at least once a week to satisfy my Cuban cravings.

I went on a cruise with my wife and spent an extra day in Fort Lauderdale after the cruise was over. I tried Las Colinas after seeing it's reviews in Yelp, and the food was great. Nothing much to look at, but the menu was extensive and there was a long list of daily specials on the board by the door. My wife and I both had the Cuban sandwich, and it was excellent. We went on a Sunday evening, and although the restaurant was never crowded there was a steady stream of customers at the walk up take-out window at the front of the restaurant. I wish I'd had more time in Fort Lauderdale, so I could sample more of the menu.

Great Cuban food place, and the prices are reasonable. The best part is first thing you get is the fresh hot Cuban garlic bread. Pretty clean place....Though I feel Tony Montana will walk through the door at any time. The breaded chicken steak is off the hook! And get a Cuban coffee!

  • Ed N.

Love this place for authentic Cuban and just plain good food at great prices. I eat here usually once a week. There have been times when I ate there twice in a single day. Cuban Sandwiches, Steak Nicaraguence, lots of fresh fish items and so much more. Try arroz moro as your side dish and the sweet bananas. Or yuca in a garlic sauce. Yummmm. Only drawback for me is that Cubans don't seem to know what a green vegetable is. That's just the cuisine. Not a jab at this restaurant. Not all the waitresses habla englese but you can get through to them or find somebody who can explain the menu. And they're all so cute and friendly. Lots of Latino families and lots of BSO Deputies coming and going. I bring northerners here and they go nuts for it.

  • James O.

Tried out based on location and some nice reviews. Were not disappointed and will go back. Large selection of specials. I had pork steak. It was fantastic. The Cuban food has a Dominican Republic influence - and that improves it. More garlic, some cilantro and just a little more interesting that straight Cuban. Service was impeccable. Atmosphere can be on the noisy side if the men in the back get going - but hey, that's a Cuban restaurant! Go. You'll be glad you did.

  • Adam B.

Yes, the reviews from local Cubans are correct; this restaurant is very authentic and inexpensive! The cafe con leche is served in two containers; cafe in one container and leche in the other, which is pretty classy in my opinion. This gives you the option of mixing to taste. Other pros: the menu is miles long, the Police eat here, and the customer service was great.

  • Laniey F.

Really great local Cuban food, we had the Cuban and steak sandwiches, Arroz moros, tostones, ropa vieja and soup of the day. Cuban bread served was pressed, buttered, with a hint if garlic, just the way we like it! The prices are the best we've seen in the area, keep in mind this is not a tourist area, more of a 'locals' place and well worth the 15 minute drive. As mentioned in another review, this is a typical South Florida cafeteria restaurant, so go casual. Service was efficient, but not overly friendly...doesn't bother me because the food and prices made up for it. Glad we found this gem on yelp, we'll definitely be back!

I have eaten Cuban food most of my childhood and adult life and living in south Florida. This place is SO bad! No it's not a language barrier - Spanish is my first language! This used to be a decent place but the new management and cooks have made it into a place with microwaved food, slow or understaffed service and no regard for the customer. I received a pan con lechon made with a side of who cares

This is the best cuban joint I've been to. Now, that being said, I'm from Denver so i'm a little limited in my range of cuban food, but this place is the spot I always go to for weekend morning breakfasts and will always bring out of towners. You're not going to be blown away by the decor or the plating. But the food is delicious and dirt cheap. With most breakfasts you'll get cafe con leche-- a small cup of espresso and a larger portion of steamed milk served separately. Mix the two together and mmmm... that's a damn good cup of coffee. And I usually never add milk to my coffee. The best breakfast dish is the Desayunos Las Colinas-- steak and eggs, basically, with a delicious red sauce. The steak is think and cooked with onions and seasoned perfectly. Eggs how you want 'em and with cuban toast. Also try the perrico-- basically an egg scramble with vegetables. The eggs are alway cooked perfectly and the vegetables fresh. None of that mushy green pepper crap you get at other breakfast places. You can't go wrong with this place. And for $12 for fresh breakfast and hot, delicious coffee for two, you won't be unhappy. Parking sucks though.

We were in Ft. Lauderdale and since we weren't able to get to Miami, we made an effort to get some Cuban food while we were in town. Most of the popular Cuban places were closed on Sunday, so we decided to check this place out (good reviews, just not many of them). I got two empanadas, which are huge--bigger than my hand, and the chicken soup. It was more than I could eat (seriously, the empanadas are not bite-size as I've been led to believe they are). A got a Cuban sandwich, and he really enjoyed that as well. Another plus is that the prices were great, at less than $10 a meal. They seemed to have a variety of tasty options if you're willing to get a bit more authentic Cuban. Definitely a solid Cuban place to check out in Ft. Lauderdale!

We were hungry and in the mood for Latin food. Yelp guided us to Las Colinas during Broward's Yelp spring break weekend o' shenanigans. Las Colinas is a very simple cafe in your typical South Florida style. Pastries and baked goodies galore at the glass counter, an eat-in bar by the open kitchen, cafeteria style tables for the rest of the patrons, and Latino folks all around. I wish we had more of these in Tampa! I ordered the Pan con bistec with a side of fries, hubby ordered the ropa vieja sandwich and a beef empanada, and my two friends ordered a Cuban sandwich, shrimp stuffed plantains, and an entree of rice, black beans and chuletas. My steak sandwich was okay. It hit the spot but I was hoping for more flavorful meat... perhaps some buttery bread and a little mayo too. My husband's sandwich was okay... again, it could have been more flavorful. We were given a chicken empanada in error, which was fine because we ate it anyway. But as I've mentioned in other reviews, I'm extremely partial to Colombian empanadas. They are simply the best! The shrimp plantain cups were alright. The black beans were on point. Overall, a decent place to eat. I probably wouldn't return, not because the food was bad, but because I'm not a local and I'd like to see what else is available at other restaurants.

Excellent food, great prices. Coffee is fantastic. My only complaint is the slow service, but it doesn't stop me from going back! One of my favorite restaurants.

Best Cuban food ever!! Very family oriented with excellent service! Our server was very pleasant and so was the ambiance.

I usually frequent lots of Hispanic food places. This one in particular was really down to earth and humble. The menu is a combination of Cuban food with other hispanic influences. You're first greeted with some toasted Garlic Cuban bread. For my meal i got the Cuban sandwich. I'm not going to lie; I had better before. Mine had all the main components of a Cuban sandwich but it was just a little stale; the cheese was not melted. Overall it was an okay experience but there's so many better places all over town that would beat the quality of the food. Our server was friendly and made sure that we had everything that we needed.

The restaurant is large and seats a lot of people, there are many tables but it is quite loud. The food was really good, and came with a large portion - I ordered Viejas Ropas...! Yum, I would go back again

I'm befuddled by the positive reviews of this place. Perhaps it's perspective? If someone has never had good Cuban for then I understand (kind of) how Las Colinas might seem decent. No, even that is a stretch. I've eaten Cuban everywhere except Cuba. My wife is Cuban (in every way). Las Colinas just isn't good Cuban food. Even in Wilton Manors it isn't good Cuban food. And for a restaurant service, ambiance, good prices, clean bathrooms, etc. don't fill in the gap when the food comes up short.

Pleasantly surprised! Food was good and our server was really attentive and nice. It was really warm inside though.....felt like their AC was off hence the 4 stars.....

Great Cuban food! In Wilton Manors/Oakland Park, of allllll places! I was shocked myself, but after several visits I have confirmed the fact that Las Colinas is damn good Cuban food! It all started when I wasn't feeling well and all I wanted was a cortadito, croquettas and a tostada. Yelp found me this spot, and off went my hero to bring me back some goodies to make me better. O.M.G! Within the first bite of my croquetta, I knew we had struck gold. Perfectly crisp on the outside, so stuffed and mushy inside with jamon for days mmmmMmmmMmmmmm good! And so we returned, the very next day and in person this time since I was starting to feel on the up and up. The breakfast deals are amazingly cheap and yummy. Last week we finally ventured to dinner out here, with Marisol & Glenn after the Funky Buddha's bottle release and Las Colinas did us right, yet again. My dish, macitas de puerco, were the hit of the night; cooked just right, not tough at all and divinely seasoned. Ask for the garlic sauce used for yuca, pour it on everything. Trust me.

Been eating here for 10 years. Great food, mediocre to poor service. I asked for extra bread today after eating my $14 meal and was told there would be an extra charge for it. Never has any resturant I have ever been in charged for extra bread. Will have to find another resturante cubano.

Food is OK, not totally Cuban, but other south american food. waitresses are out to lunch! they are all talking and laughing the entire day... to get their attention is a big deal and then they have an attitude for interrupting them. i never see a boss, manager or owner. loud diswashers pots banging... since it is pretty much in the dining room. Service pretty much SUCKS A BIG ONE!

Good place for breakfast. Damn good cafe con leche. Their penil is pretty darn good. The empanadas are made to order and yummy. I've tried the ham/cheese, beef and the chicken. Good service.

Another first visit and another trip for Cuban food in the last few weeks. Wasn't really sure what to expect, but I enjoyed the food and the service was friendlier than what some here have reviewed. We shared empanadas for a starter. They were light and hot and pretty good. A side sauce might have been nice. I had the lechon asado for my meal and it came hot and a huge portion. Sides were maduros and yellow rice. The pork was cooked perfectly and was moist and very flavorful. Reasonably priced for what turned out to be 2 meals since I took half mine home. If you are in the mood for Cuban, you could do a lot worse than Las Colinas and its much closer than Calle Ocho.

I keep trying this place maybe once a year and hoping for a better service and unfortunately service is as bad as it can be. Bad service and for the first time the meal portions were very small. The food is not bad actually, but waiting 15 min to be greet and having to ask for my check 4 times is very bad. Never once they asked me how the food is or of I needed anything else and I actually wanted to order an epanada. Guess now days tips are taken for granted....

We went there twice. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. This place is inexpensive. For $4.50 I had eggs, toast, potatoes, and a cafe con leche. The food was tasty. For lunch, the portions are very generous. We had enough food to reheat for dinner. The plantains and chicken salteado were flavorful and cooked well. The service is pleasant. However, it's not quick. If you need things brought to you immediately after you ask for them or if you expect waiters to ask if you need anything every 5 minutes, this is not the place for you. I particularly don't mind waiting a reasonable amount of time and they were within my guidelines.

Had the opportunity to try out this Cuban Restaurant that serves authentic Cuban food. It's your family style type of environment. We ordered the ropa vieja, arroz amarillo, maduros and tostones rellenos de camarones. The food was delicious and they served a huge portion. It was on a Friday night so it was very busy. Service is a little slow since there were only two waitresses. Overall, we had a nice time and enjoyed our visit.

Classic Cuban/Puerto Rican diner food. I had the ropa vieja sandwich, which was incredible. The cafe con leche was spot on. I'd go there a lot if I lived nearby.

After moving from Miami to Ft Lauderdale, Cuban cuisine became extremely difficult to find and my steak sandwich and croquette cravings were increasingly difficult to satisfy. Until, I stumbled upon this spot. Great food and great prices. Can't complain.

This was one of the worst restaurants I have ever been too. I am here on vacation and wanted to try some authentic Cuban food. Me and my friend where in the restaurant for 15 min and not one person came and took our order. They where more looking at us like we where ghost! The waitresses where making eye contact with us and kept walking past us like we weren't there. If guess if your not of Cuban decent you cannot get served here.

Eh. I honestly wasn't that impressed. The food was OK, but nothing that blew my mind. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. The space was big and there were maybe two other tables full, but getting service was like pulling teeth. Most of the ladies on staff were busy gossiping loudly in Spanish about something important. Now, I don't really care of it's English or Spanish, loud gossip in a restaurant is just plain unprofessional. How do I know it was gossip? Well, like I said, there was only two other tables, they weren't busy enough to make that much racket about orders. That, and the fact that many sentences were followed with a sigh, gasp, tsk or "aye, no" led me to think it wasn't work talk. Plus, the way that the acoustics work in that place, their voices were magnified and they drowned out any music and conversation my guy and I were trying to have. I ordered the cafe con leche and it arrived so hot that I burned my tongue, which is not uncommon for me, but I ordered at the beginning of the meal, and even by the end, a full 30 minutes later, it was still lava hot and a film of milk had formed on the top. Our server took so long with the bill that we thought maybe we had to go pay at the register or something. It was only when we stood up to go check it out that our server came running up to us asking where we were going. When we explained, she then brought us the bill. Maybe the food here is good, but the service here certainly isn't.

I thought the food was great! I came in for breakfast and had the #4. Dos Huevos, Tostada y café con Leche and a side of bacon. Every thing from the bacon to the home fríes,The Cuban coffee, Croquetas, Empanadas All made me want more. The staff is pleasant and inviting. Will stand by you to have a conversation, very inviting.

One of my favorite breakfast and lunch places while in Fort Lauderdale. The food and the cafe con leche are good and cheap! If you're picky about service, this is not your place. Come for the good food, coffee, and relax. Go somewhere else if you want 5 star service.

This place is awesome. I had the croquetas to start and shared a cuban sandwich with my friend. I then had the ropa vieja which came with two sides. My friend had the biztec empanisado also with a choice of two sides. This plus two beers came to $40! Cheapest yet best meal all week! The atmosphere is somewhat cafeteria-like with bright lights and plastic tablecloths but the staff is very friendly. All in all, a great experience!

My 6th time for breakfast here! Recently discovered hidden gem on edge of Wilton Manors. Cuban restaurant 100% belongs on Ocho calle in Miami's little Havana! $5.99 for western omelette, potatoes, cuban toast and cafe com leche. Pic of my bkfast in photos. Homemade habanero sauce! Hot pressed cuban bread! Friendly staff of Cuban women. Selena is daytime chef and whips up full, generous plates of food. I can do without the paper, folding menus with advertising. Some Cuban music for ambience would add to the appeal. They use plastic plates which are a no no in any service industry. Some artwork on the walls might liven it up a bit. You can find cheap china wear in any local restaurant supply wholesaler :-(. Bisteak sandwich is cheap and served with fries. Will be back for a dinner plate. Place has expresso, coffee window with guava and cheese pastries, pastelitos, papa rellenas and empanadas! Don't be fooled by the dumpy strip mall and lackluster exterior, renovated clean interior and fast service.

Las Colinas Restaurant is a great find. I would see the restaurant on the way to work and decided to try it for dinner. Boy and I glad I did. Fantastic food, friendly staff, simple "diner" decor. The yellow rice is out of this world. The serve soda\pop, fruit shakes, beer and wine. If you have never had Cuban food give Las Colinas a try you will be glad you did!

We went for breakfast today and I ordered the steak and eggs with rice. The steak and eggs were good bit the rice was very dry. I could not finish my meal. Okay, I can deal with that. Then I see the lady who cuts the bread for the takes and that makes the sandwiches, she wipes her nose with her wrist and keeps on touching the food. That is the last time I will ever eat there. The only reason I'm giving then 2 stars is that not everyone should lose out because 1 employee is nasty.

I used to love this place... But tonight the croquetas were burned and still cold inside... The yuca had no taste and the Mojo no garlic... The one waitress wasn't very friendly... But I don't think cause she's a bad waitress but cause she really seemed overwhelmed... For the price is not a bad place but it has become a hit or miss place... So I won't be coming back...

Used to be amazing....and some days it still is. But the last 2 visits have been TERRIBLE. The first one- the waitress kept avoiding me and would not refill my water during the entire meal. I ordered a Croquette and it was frozen in the middle, so I asked for a new one. They microwaved it. It was hard and disgusting. Then my meal came. The pork was dry, like it was 2 days old and sitting out all day. The rice was hard. It was just terrible. I assumed it was because I came at dinner time and I usually would lunch there. So, we went back today at lunch and it was awful, once again. The croquettes were barely warm. We ordered 2 pork sandwiches. One of them had such a small portion of meat on it, that we had to take some off the other sandwich just so that you'd have a tiny piece of meat with each bite. The bread was stale. Service was terrible again...waiting 35 minutes for a refill, and having to ask someone else to get it...waiting another 10 minutes for that person to fill it. Used to be my favorite cuban restaurant. I won't be going back.

Fast & friendly service. The Cuban sandwich is A-MAAA-ZING! They use real meat, not lunch meat, & ample pickles. The cheese stretched as I pulled the sandwich apart. Everything tastes fresh & authentic. This will be my go-to spot for a Cuban.

My family of 18 stopped here for lunch before heading to the airport. The employees were shocked to have that huge of a group walk in at once but were very accommodating and quick to fit us in the small restaurant. Since we were on a time crunch, most of us ordered sandwiches and few ordered plates. The cubano sandwiches (and cubano especial) were gooood! My husband liked it better than the ones we had in Miami. The mustard or whatever sauce used made the sandwich stand out. My daughter and I ordered the croquettas and empandas, which were also good. The cafe con leche - love! Those that did order the plates were happy with their order but didn't find anything to rave about. If I'm back in the area, I will return to try out more of the dishes the locals ordered and they looked delish! Las Colinas is a solid neighborhood restaurant to check out if you're in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Its about a 20 minute drive to the airport.

We were in the area for vacation and wanted to try some Cuban food. The food itself was delicious. We had 1) Ropa Vieja, Arroz Moro & Maduros; 2) Bistec de Pollo, Arroz Amarillo & Beans. We also had a batida de mamey. The service was excellent and well and the prices were good. Definitely worth it!

Found this place on yelp since all the other recommended Cuban restaurants closed at 5 and this one stays open late. I had the Cuban special and my boyfriend got the shredded pork but he said his was "alright" I enjoyed my meal though.

Ok this place was soooooooo good! The tostones stuffed with shrimps mmmm! It's a Must try! The food was super good and the restaurant wasn't so bad. The only thing I am complaining about is the waitress. She was rude. When talking with her she would cut us and leave. She would also try to rush us. It was our first time and we wanted to see what we wanted so she was very rushy. The menus do not identify what the meal comes with or what is included so we were asking her question and she seem frustrated and bother. The thing that really bothered me was that we ordered one order of stuffed tostones and she just assumed we wanted 2 more and at the end we had the surprise addition to our bill. It wasn't no problem in paying just bothered me how she assumed we wanted an extra order. I really can't complaint about the food or the price because it was not bad at all just te service I didn't like.

The food here is great! I really like it here. The atmosphere is nice. I have been here several times and have even been there alone. When I go alone, I sit at the counter top and usually end up conversing with someone. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because the times I have ordered from the outdoor line, I ended up waiting way too long. Over 45 minutes. But the food was still amazing!

Prompt service, gracious helpful waitress recommended side orders to the 'masas de puerco'. Cheerfully translated when my try at Spanish failed. Everything fresh and tasty. Worth going out of the way - good Value. Was not crowded for an early dinner on a Tuesday.

I was in heaven eating the media noche sandwich which is basically a Cuban sandwich on egg bread. The bread is softer which was perfect for dipping in the mojo and chimichurri sauces that the server let us try. She was great to us and the cafe con leche topped it off.

The cafe con leche is great, food is pretty good and so are the prices but the service is consistently horrible. Extremely slow service, takes forever to place your order, takes forever to get your food, to pay etc. most of the servers have a lazy/bad attitude about them. I really wish they'd get better because I want to keep coming here.
